January is Sanctity of Human Life month. Some Churches remembered January
17 as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. That is the Sunday closest to the
heinous 1973 Supreme Court act that legalized abortion on demand as a means
of birth control. Since then, as many as 1.5 million babies have been
aborted annually, which is over 50 million children. That is more people
than have died in all the wars combined that America has fought. The
Supreme court ruled that an unborn fetus is not a person and has no
Constitutional rights. The slaughter of innocents has continued to this
day, with no protection or rights. How different than the attitude of Jesus
who said, “Let the little children come to me and forbid them not for such
is the kingdom of God.” As a member of the State Board of Bethany Christian
Services, I stand unapologetically for the rights of the unborn.
According to the Bible all human life is created in the image of God, which
means there is dignity and value in human life. David acknowledged God’s
creative participation in his life and the life of the unborn as beyond his
human perception. The miracle of life involves more than human activity.
Psalm 139:13-16 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in
my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not
hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the
depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were
written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet
there was none of them.
Please do not forget to pray that abortion on demand in America would end.
This is a theological, social and political battle that will not be won in
our power and might. Please remember Bethany Christian Services as we are
on the front line of this issue every day. I am thankful that we as a
Church support those agencies that oppose this heinous slaughter of
innocents. Thank you for your prayers and support.
John Tucker D.Min
State Secretary for Bethany Christian Services
